On the eve helped my mom with the praying in the morning. Cooking , washing.. Then late noon took a nap and sleep. By the time woe up around 7pm. Dinner was steamboat. Very long time never eat steamboat. Typical dishes, except got 2 jap dishes. My favourite baby octopus and jellyfish. After eating watched tv until like 12. Slept at 5++ play Civ 4 damn addicitve.

Next morning woke up at around 10. Left for ah ma house at around 12++. Reached there found my cousin with his 3 kids. The new twins male and female. Reached there played with the baby girl as the baby boy was sleeping. The boy was bigger than the jie jie and looked like a monk LOL !!!

Soon my other cousin came then played with the boy. Guess the boy don't like me, when i carried him, he kept on crying. Guess my sa qi too strong. Soon my another cousin came with his girlfriend and their baby a chiwawa (dunno how to spell). This dog also sibei cute hyper active. We left around 6pm.

As you grow older you find new year damn sian. To me its just a long holiday to get away from army life. Suddenly from everyday see green to everyday see red. Ever since my father passed away, his brother and sisters never came to vist us, I also don't know the reason. Over the past few years realtions has strained also at my mother side ever since my grandfather passed.

I have very few friends and relatives

Gone are the primary school friends
Gone are the secondary school friends
Gone are the cousins
Gone are the poly friends
After ORD
Gone are the army friends???

Change of OC : Bye CPT Jean Chua, Hello CPT MAX

Last week nothing much, 2 days of islandwide driving. Nights out and eating at Changi Village had already drained out my wallet LOL. But the Ipoh Hor Fun at Changi Village that is highly recommended by ch U etc .. is damn nice MUST TRY !!! Heng go Islandwide driving ping ping an an sun sun li li except, on the 1st islandwide, back at camp when going to park, the unimog broke down again. The same unimog which broke down at East Coast Park, guess the mechanics did not do a good job.

The next bunk brought PS2, so typically everyday they are playing. It used to be our bunk the first to get up, but now is the opposite. Sometimes abit too much, middle of the night people trying to sleep still shout. Thursday was OC Change of Command parade. As i lost my beret during islandwide driving, i volunteered to be the food party helping Kok Fai, Garrad and Xiang Xin, so not involve in the parade YEH !!!

Around 330pm went to cookhouse to collect the food for tonight. It was buffet SFI style. Fried rice, fried chicken wings, fish roll, and dessert. Set up everything at the officer mess relaxing when, RSM and CO sat there. We became very uptight and nervous. Around 20mins later they left, so we sat and rest. At around 530, the caterer brought food, which encik ordered. Got siew mai, spring roll, fried wanton, satay, chicken wings and the die die must try honey dew sago. Before the parade started, we tested the quality of the sago LOL. Took around 5 helpings. Around 6pm eveyone arrived.

Special guests were, OC's family, CPT MAX wife, CO, RSM, S1 , S3, S4, OC TCC2, OC CCC, ex trunk 1 OC, 1sg Kenny, LTA Jason and 2SG Garrad, now in Stagmont Camp. 1SG Kenny was the MC, interviewing us how we felt under the command of OC. After that was a video presentation compiled by Staff Muru and Benson. 90% of the pictures were sponsored by me. At the end of the video, OC gave us a speech and later broke down. We then went to lau yu sheng before had dinner. This time beer was sponsored.

AFter dinner was time to relax and enjoy. Can play golf, pool, table soccer, computer, watch tv, sing ktv. The junior platoon got 1 guy damn low profile abit funny, knn he sing Yan Zi song sibei power !!! Dunno how to describe, but he can sing very high key, everyone was stunned and asked him to sing somemore. Next was 1SG Kenny, when he sang Mei Yan Fang's song, wah it was so alike that it felt so eerie, as though "she" was singing. Potential SG Idol, last year he performed at CO evening also. The junior platoon golden bayonet sang lots of hokkien songs.

That night 1 mission, to make the old and new OC drink and drink and drunk dead. Our specs kept on toasting mam until she vomited a few times. The officers were involved in a beer competiton. Last to finsh drink again. SAF beer special , specially manufactured and taste damn horrible. This was my first time drinking Tiger damn bitter. When the SAF Tiger ran out, they went out to buy another 3 cartons of Tiger beer. This time the beer tasted better. At around 10pm went back bunk.

Friday morning got new year celebration, so mass breakfast at 9am. Talk by CO, presentation of awards and NPT certs to various Node Commanders. Breakfast was western, scrambled eggs, hot dogs, baked beans and hash browns. My first breakfast after 3 months. After breakfast, the varios OCs, CSMs , PCs and PSs gave us 2 oranges and an ang pow. The ang pow contained 2 chocolate coins.

As my specs were ready, I decided to go PS to collect them. The rest of the guys haven bought any clothes, so tag along. I took Xiang XIn's father van to Jurong Point. As the back was filled with laundry, I had to climb in, felt like sleeping inside so comfortable. Took MRT to PS, collected my specs and Xiang Xin's friend show us newer models. Spent like another 1h there and Xiang Xin made a new specs. Walked around left at 5pm damn damn tired.

Operationally ready to deploy anywhere anytime any place NPT 16 Jan - 19 Jan Taiwan here i come !!!

FINALLY NPT OVER LOR !!!

After preparations for months, finally Node Proficiency Test (NPT), was conducted on Tuesday night 2000hs.

This week, we did alot of preparations of vehicle, equipment, water, POL, ration ...
We were also to take a test prior NPT, to gauage our knowledge. We were told to move out on Tuesday 2000hs, with 6 other nodes, around 30 vehicles and 100 personels, very big scale ex. It seems like we were going to war. We were nervous, excited but well prepared for this day. We got6 phases and 4 displacement. First to West Bukit Timah, Elephant Hill, Mandai and Finally Kranji Dam.

First deployment was West Bukit Timah, the setup was fast however, however the links could not go through and it took our guys few hours to troubleshoot. We afraid that this hitch could cost us our NPT to fail, as passed the timmings and % of links up. Wednesday afternoon displace to Elephant Hill.

I heard before that Elephant Hill has one of the best view in Singapore, but the most dangerous deployment area, because it is at the top of a hill with a very steep slope. Must drive carefully. From West Bukit Timah, we drove until Pasir Laba camp, wah the camp damn big, the new SISPEC is there. There we drove the unimog one by one up hill. Wah the view up is magnificent. Upon reaching deployment, we setup and link was up very soon , everyone was very happy and hope this might score us more points.

At 0000, we were displaced to Kranji Dam instead of Mandai, as we were behind time due to the rainy weather. Reached Kranji around 0200. As it was a civilian areas, many people were looking at us, why face green color, point gun towards the road, prone at bus-stop ... Around noon, we saw a rover frm Signal Institue, guess they were here for a ex. I remembered the last time I came Kranji Dam for the similar ex. At around 1500 we displaced back to camp, feeling damn happy and excitedf finally its over.

Reached camp was told there would be a parade and later a ceremony presentation by CO in the evening and 1700 was the first rehearsal. We had to camou on and kiwi our boots black, so after parking our vehicle, locking arms in cupboard, we camou on and went to canteen to eat. At 1700 first rehearsal, wah lau that RSM we so tired still kpkb, u try 3 days never sleep well and then attend a parade. The parade commander was our OC and sergant major was our enick.

The parade started, our OC and enick had camou on so garang. Arrival of CO, homat senjata, then inspection, short speech and presentation of our long awaited and deserved signal badge. CO would put on the badge on every person involve in NPT personally, Imagine how long it took. First time i saw CO up close when we fitted on my badge. Around 1 hour later after fixing on 100 men badges the parade was over. We took some pictures and then sent arms. OC gave us tomorrow half day at least a small reward.

Our junior batch 3238, reported losing something, we were least likely suspect because we were out of camp. In the end, it was found in one of the specs bunk. For this stupid thing, they were to be confined till next week.

Next morning woke up early, clear stuffs then draw arms to clean. Around 1230 we wore CV waiting to book out. Anthony, Xiang Xin and I headed for Orhard , as XIang Xin friend is an optician at Plaza Sing Optical 88. We walked around and went to had lunch at Taka food court. Ordered "OMU" it rice wrapped inside egg and served with special sauce. Mine had some chicken cutlet and real crab meat, not bad very tasty $8 + a free drink.

After that Xiang Xin brought me to Zara to show me the shirt he bought. I fancied the shoes there, similar to those white color adidas but guess no one wanted to serve me so went to PUMA. Finally PUMA first boutique in Singapore. Walked around PUMA and Stadium, finally bought a pair of shoes at PUMA. Then we go Heeren to walk around and Xiang XIn to collect his Levis Jeans. Finally reached PS Optical 88, where his friend recommended us alot of spectacles. I guess I am less trendy chose those very formal looking specs. I tested my eye, well my vision had improved by alittle and found out got astigma. Paid $198 for everything, guess this is my most expensive spectacles ever made. Wednesday ready but in camp so CNY eve go Parkway collect.
